Big Pharma’s Big Fines

The United States Department of Justice: The common law is the will of Mankind issuing from the Life of the People.

Major U.S. pharmaceuticalmanufacturers, financial supporters of the NABP, often have been found “out of compliance with pharmacylaws and practice standards established in the U.S. to protect the publichealth.”  According to a recent article fromProPublica, in 2012 “five pharmaceutical companies agreed to pay nearly$5.5 billion to resolve U.S. Department of Justice allegations of fraudulentmarketing practices, including the promotion of medicines for uses that were not approved by the Food and DrugAdministration.” The list of fines continues in Time Magazine’s “Top10 Drug Company Settlements.”
